The IBL was founded in 1919 and is the oldest amateur men's league in Canada and also considered as one of the best, regarding the quality of play.  IBL payers include NCAA players, minor league players, ex-professional and junior and senior aged players.  The IBL has been home to a number of aspiring Major League players as each year the IBL graduates a number of players to the professional ranks.
