The countdown to summer has begun.  Soon Mississauga schools will close for the summer and moms and dads will be wondering what to do with the children for the summer.   There are a wide variety of Mississauga Summer Camps available. Summer Showtime is heading into its 15th summer of engaging programmes! Not just another summer camp, research has consistently shown that core academic skills are maintained and strengthened through interactive activity. Mississauga's Summer Showtime Camp has developed a fantastic four week programme designed to enlighten, enthuse and invigorate throughout July. Each week is independent of the other and has a unique theme; from Hip Hop to video game design, Summer Showtime is the place to be! All programmes will be structured to meet the needs of the individual child and will include a component of technology. The participants will work with professionals from the arts, sports, science and media fields, along with Star Academy staff to create a culminating task to present to families each Friday afternoon. Performers Dance Intensives is now in its 3rd year Performers dance intensives offers kids ages 12+ the chance to learn from some seriously cool moves from some of Toronto's hottest teachers and choreographers! These week long camps offer classes in Ballet, Floor Barre, Jumps and Turns, Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and even Aerial Silks! Running out of Performers new 3000sq ft facility, students will be given personal attention in every class! This camp is for dancers who want to sweat, smile and get their groove on! Our teachers are currently working at the top of the film and theatre industry and will share their passion and skills to inspire each and every student! There are two, one week intensives offered, each with a different faculty. Classes are Aug 15-19, or Aug. 22-26, and run from 9am-4pm. Registration is limited to ensure proper attention to each student, and space will be reserved on a first come first reserved basis. Students must have a minimum of 1 year dance experience. At Camp Van Gogh Kids create Vincent Van Gogh masterpieces by slathering on wonderfully thick acrylic paint! Palette knife techniques are introduced to add texture to the paintings. They also work with clay to create hand-built Sunflower or Starry Night vases.  Along with using professional art supplies and learning how to work in various mediums, kids leave the camp knowing about Vincent Van Gogh and how he used swirls, dots, and dashes in his paintings.  Van Gogh 1/2 day camps are offered weeks 1 and 6 of summer.  Contact Meadowvale 4Cats Art Studio at 905-812-4000 for registration information.

MK Robotics Science Camp presents a non-traditional summer program that introduces students aged 6-14 to the world of ROBOTICS!  MK Robotics Science Camp runs from July 4 to Aug 12, 2011.  During this program the participant will individually build approximately 5 to 10 robots per week.  This exciting camp provides an opportunity for students to understand basic robotics functions through a fun and hands-on experience.  MK Robotics Science camp inspires student's interest in learning S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).   Building, thinking, programming, competing, and re-modeling will be the key activities for each level.  MK Robotics Science Camp operates in two Mississauga locations. Alpha’s Discovery Club is the place to be over the summer. A balance of fun and interactive learning is the focus of Summer Camp 2011. Our experienced camp instructors will lead children in Academic, Drama, Sports, Science and creative Art/Craft workshops focused on the weekly themes. Each week, children will go on a full-day field trip which will coincide with the weekly theme. Themes include: Explore the Jungle, Diggin the Fossils, Eco Challenge, Movin & Groovin, Fairy Tale, Journey Around the World, Wacky Science, Olympics and Carnival. The Claude Monet Camp students will be inspired by Claude Monet and the impressionists!  Re-create the beauty of nature, impressionist style with quick brush strokes, capturing light and perspective.  Kids work using various mediums such as acrylic on canvas and clay when they create their own version of Monet's Water Lilies. Let’s Rock from  July 4 – 8, 2011 - Explore the diversity around us! Move and groove to music from around the world. Do the salsa, hula, samba, and cha-cha. Break dance, and twist to modern music! Bring home an instrument.  Contact MontessoriWorks at 905-569-1000.

Creative Kids Place offers Arts & Craft camps as well as Lego Building and Science camps. There is something to please every kid from 4 to 12 years old. Projects in the arts & craft camps (7 to 12 Year olds) will include ceramic painting, soap making, tie dye t-shirts, mask making, beading and more. Lego builders (5 to 10 Year olds) will build a variety of projects including using motors, sensors and computers to build and program models that can move and make sounds. Science camp will have kids grow crystals, make a volcano, dig out bones and assemble a Stegosaurus and more. For junior campers (4 to 7 year olds), there are weekly themes such as African Safari Adventures, At the Beach, Fun with Dinosaurs, Little Princesses and Pirates and so on. Big Wave Camp is both affordable and enjoyable. This camp features: quality staff, extended hours , bus transportation, healthy environment, small age-based groups, equipment and supplies included, special guests and instruction, and a wide selection of activities for all ages and interests (ages 4-18). Campers will enjoy hiking, a ropes course, fishing, rafting, swimming, river exploration, archery, soccer, football, Basketball, Volleyball, & more. The Georgia OKeefe Camp introduces campers to Georiga Okeefe who painted on large scale and so will the kids! Eureka Kids Preschool offers a fun and educational summer camp program for kids ages 2.5 to 10, from July 4th to 29th. This  summer camp places an emphasis on education: reading, writing and math;  music and arts and crafts. In addition children enjoy activities  specific to the summer months: outdoor and indoor sports, games, free  play time, shallow pool play and other water fun. The program is  individually tailored to compliment the age and prior knowledge of each  student. Airborne Trampoline Camp offers Mississauga campers the chance to spend 2 to 3 hours on the trampolines learning new skills, working their way through levels and earning ribbons. When the children are not on the trampolines - they will need some rest - there will be lots of fun things to keep them busy, like arts and crafts, games and karaoke. Participants will also be going on different mini trips. Destinations include bowling, swimming, roller blading, martial arts, Reptilia and the movies. Campers will show off their designs in their own fashion show to family and friends at the end of the session! Summer Music Spectacular Camp at Do Re Mi for Kids offers singing, dancing, rhythm, and instrument making ... it's a week packed with activities and fun.  On Friday evening, the kids will be putting on a mini-musical to entertain their parents. Studio P.A.V.A.S., performing and visual arts school, offers March Break and Summer Day Camps for ages 3 to 14. Expand your creativity and performance skills with a mixed Arts Camp in art, music, drama and or dance  Students have the opportunity to explore six different classes or choose 3 hours  in one of the performing and visuals arts. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels are welcome to experience jazz, musical theatre, hip hop, acro, contemporary, art and irish in small class settings.  Campers are assigned to their appropriate age groups and spend each hour taking a different discipline. At the end of the week parents are invited to attend a performance.  Studio PAVAS also offers specialty camps through the summer in Art, Music, Drama, Broadway (acting/singing/dance) and Advanced Dance and Acro.  Students can attend for a half day and/or full day with before care and after child care available.  We offer small class sizes (5-12) and camera viewing of all studios.  Summer Evening lessons/classes are available in private Music lessons and group Dance classes once per week on Wednesdays. Clay Crazy is a one week unique program that provides campers ages 8-10 a chance to explore a variety of projects and techniques in the Centre’s Ceramics Studio. Children will learn handbuilding techniques and will also have a chance to try their hand on the wheel. NEW PROJECTS EVERY YEAR! Leaders through the Arts,  does someone at your house want to be a leader and make a difference in the community? Through visual and performing arts based workshops participants ages 13-16 will develop confidence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Participants will partake in 2 weeks of specialized workshops such as screen printing, improv and sculpture, which are geared towards personal growth, self discovery and reflection. These new skills will help participants throughout their placement as they assist younger campers under the guidance of art instructors and camp staff.
